The 2026 application is now live and will close January 15th.
Application decisions will be released on a rolling basis beginning the week of March 2, 2026. Applicants should allow until Friday, March 13 for notifications to be issued.
Welcome to the McCollough Institute for Pre-Medical Scholars’ online application.
The McCollough Institute for Pre-Medical Scholars Program is open to The University of Alabama incoming first-year students whose primary major is in the Barefield College of Arts & Science. To find all applicable majors review the UA catalog for more information.
Requirements for Incoming Students
To qualify, interested students must have quantifiable academic components such as an ACT score of 32-36 or SAT score of 1420-1600, and a 3.50+ GPA. These scores are required to apply for the program. Non-academic components include leadership experience, volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, employment, and non-academic honors.
To complete the McCollough Scholars application, be prepared to enter your GPA, ACT/SAT scores, upload a 1 to 2-minute video presentation (include face and voice), complete a short essay on required topic (490 to 500 word), and submit two letters of recommendation.
Applicants will need to provide two references (one academic and one non-academic, referrals from family members or anyone related to the applicant is not permissible). References must fill out the recommendation form and submit a recommendation letter. Our office does not reach out to the references to complete their forms. This must be done by the applicants.
Reminder: Chosen applicants must be in the Barefield College of Arts and Science. They must be able to live on campus with other selected McCollough students during the first year.

For priority consideration for admission into the 2026-2027 program year, apply by January 15th, 2026.
